A key issue in understanding cell signaling networks is the influence of context on their operation; context here may involve cell type, tissue environment, and organism identity.  I will present here some directions we have been pursuing to address context effects on signaling networks via computational modeling frameworks, with application to cancer and inflammatory pathologies.
